Is this you? Right now you’re...

Frustrated that you’re constantly putting yourself last – even though you’ve told yourself so many times that this is the year you take care of YOU.

Stressed and exhausted by your to-do list and seemingly endless responsibilities — you know it’s time for a major reset but struggle to coordinate even a night out (much less an extended vacation).

Craving a chance to slow down, a pause so that you can feel more like YOU again — but you don’t know how or where to find it.

sound about right?

So what’s stopping you? Maybe this sounds familiar...

You’re barely keeping your head above water, managing all of your daily responsibilities in a fog, and feeling numb, focusing so much on taking care of everyone and everything that you never get to fill your own cup.

It feels like you’re watching life happen from the sidelines, not actively participating in and enjoying a vibrant life that feels aligned with who you are and what you value.

You struggle to create a real break for yourself — where would you even find the time to plan something? And organizing all the details for a getaway just makes you feel overwhelmed.

Wouldn’t it be amazing if you could simply commit to a brief escape and have someone else find a spectacular location, plan inspirational and restorative content, and breakdown step-by-step what to expect?

Friend, we’ve got you covered.

What people are saying about Little Dipper:

“Kate is easy to talk to and incredibly insightful, always offering me different ways of viewing how I handle my own emotions. I would absolutely recommend anyone who has the opportunity to work with Kate to take it without reservation.” — TN

How Wandering Roots works their magic...

Imagine an event planner and a travel agent had a baby and that baby has arranged all the details for you.

the process

1. RESERVE YOUR ROOM
Once all of your questions have been answered, it’s time to book the room that best suits you and your budget. We have many options, some private, some shared. You will pay a deposit through the website to secure your reservation and complete a detailed intake form so that we can curate this retreat to your specific needs and desires.

2. WELCOME EMAIL
Shortly after we receive your registration, we’ll send you a welcome email to map out what to expect over the next few months leading up to the retreat. You will also receive a checklist of what exactly to pack, reassurance that it’s ok to still overpack, details on what to expect on excursions, and verification there is a bathroom at the hiking trail for when you just drank an entire pot of coffee.

3. TRAVEL INSURANCE
We will recommend the most affordable travel insurance that suits your needs. Travel insurance is not required but we highly recommend it to make sure unexpected cancellations are covered.

4. ANXIETY-REMOVAL CHECK-IN
A week before the retreat we’ll meet virtually so that everyone can meet each other before spending the week together. We’ll answer any and all questions and will not rest until you are anxiety-free.

5. RETREAT
At last! The fun part! You show up ready to relax and unwind and experience an unforgettable retreat that rocks your world and we’ll take care of the rest. Bonus points for making new friends ;)

What past Wandering Roots guests are saying...

“Your entire team at Wandering Roots curated the perfect environment to relax and explore. I was just going on a retreat to try something new, find out if retreats are for me and have fun while still feeling comfortable being in my home state. Every meal, itinerary item, yoga session, and workshop had so much thought and love poured into it. I will be recommending this retreat + team to everyone I know. I had the most amazing time and now I know retreats are definitely for me! ” — SS

We help You escape on effortless adventures so you can feel alive again.

Ready to make some new friends?

Meet your host — Kate.

Kate is passionate about helping people feel better in their bodies and connect to their deepest, truest selves (she’s also pretty passionate about a well-marbled, medium-rare ribeye).  She’s the owner and founder of Little Dipper — a therapeutic bodywork and private movement practice located in the Forest Hills area of Grand Rapids, MI.  Her work is grounded in her belief that the most transformative bodywork and movement isn’t about “fixing” anything about you or your body, it's about fostering a stronger and clearer connection to your own body and heart.  Kate loves helping her clients address physical and emotional issues in a way that focuses on root causes so that they can move with greater ease and live in closer alignment with their own inner wisdom.

When she's not teaching yoga or working with her clients at Little Dipper, you can find Kate swimming in Lake Michigan (or the local YMCA pool), obsessively photographing her two pups, Maverick + Banjo, or rewatching classic 90s TV.  A few fun facts about Kate: (1) Her go-to karaoke song is “Shoop” by Salt-N-Pepa.  (2) She loves to read fantasy, post-apocalyptic, and speculative fiction.  (3) She was born on leap day.

And cohosts — anna, Elise, + Abbey.

Anna is the incredibly talented human behind Wandering Roots. She’s an expert at travel design and planning and hosting the perfect retreat, whether it’s close to home or somewhere completely unfamiliar. She’s kind, confident, and an absolute pro at taking care of all the little details involved in making your time away truly magical.

Elise is the creative mastermind responsible for Mod Bettie (photography + empowerment work), Naughty Bettie (size-inclusive, boutique lingerie), and the uniquely encouraging and supportive Squad Bettie Facebook group. Elise knows how to have a good time — no, scratch that — a GREAT time. She’s the life of the party, your biggest cheerleader, and the key to making everyone feel like they belong.

Unexpected and unbelievably delicious meals are Abbey’s specialty. She’s a multi-talented Jane-of-all-trades — chef, artist, gardener, metalworker, jewelry-maker. Abbey’s talents are endless. Her impeccable attention to detail, unique twists on familiar flavors, and focus on creating meals that will truly nourish the people she’s serving make her the perfect person to take care of feeding all of us on retreat. And, bless her, she’s always got the coffee ready first thing.

So what happens if you need to cancel? (AKA life happens…)

Your Investment is Covered*

We’re seasoned travelers and know that sometimes life happens and plans need to be cancelled.

Sign up for a retreat and you will receive a welcome email with what to expect over the coming months. Included in this email is a link to purchase travel insurance.

Wandering Roots has partnered with two companies to provide you with extensive coverage at very affordable rates.

If you follow through with your end of the work and purchase travel insurance, you will be covered during your retreat or your investment will be reimbursed if you can no longer attend your retreat.

Basically, we’ll do everything in our power to make sure you’re over-the-moon happy whether or not you can join us for the retreat.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We specialize in creating a guilt-free culture. Our “choose your own adventure” system requires nothing from you and encourages you to opt-out of any offering that does not serve you in the present moment. Whether you participate in everything or nothing - we are here for you.

  • We teach all-levels style classes that are beginner friendly, and you absolutely do not have to participate if you prefer not to.

  • Our private chef can not only handle any food allergy or dietary restriction that you throw her way, she will seamlessly accommodate the pickiest of eaters as well. She finds pleasure in curating a menu that is authentic to the area and welcomes any challenge. She has served dozens of guests and we are yet to find someone that hasn’t fallen deeply in love with her made-from-scratch meals.

  • Perfect! We love solo retreaters and believe it’s the best way to meet people and make new friends! We pinky promise that every single guest (and host) is nervous about showing up and being loved and accepted for who they are and not someone they are trying to be. You are not alone in this and you will be in the best company. We have perfected the art of creating besties out of strangers.

  • Yes! We always have an add-on option for any private rooms that have either a queen or king bed. We do not offer this on our website, but if you email anna@yourwanderingroots.com, we will happily set it up for you. Add-on prices vary based on each retreat but make it more affordable by splitting the cost of the room. You can share a bed with your SO, bestie, mom, sister, anyone you’d like. Spooning optional ;)

  • We are committed to making each guest feel comfortable and safe. We have a section on the registration form for you to share any injuries or concerns. If you prefer to discuss in detail, please reach out to kate@thisislittledipper.com to create a plan to address your individual needs!

  • First of all, same ;) Excursions are dependent on retreats. We always scout the trails or activities before we take retreat guests on them and we always discuss in detail what to expect for time, difficulty level, etc. so that you can decide if you want to participate. Most hikes are easy or moderate and take between 2-4 hours.

  • A suggested list of items to bring will be provided once registration is completed.

  • That is dependent on the retreat. Normally we host between 10 and 15 guests and have 4-5 hosts.

  • We know that most wellness retreats have a reputation for being alcohol free. We never impose strict guidelines on any of our retreats. We truly believe that wellness looks differently for everyone. We always allow guests to bring their own and sometimes we have complimentary drinks. Whatever your preference, it’s never an issue.

  • No, you do not have to be photographed. Elise may be snapping some pics throughout the weekend, but she is happy to omit you from photos if you prefer.

  • Yes, but it may be limited. Depending on your cell service, there may be areas of the lodging or excursions where you will have limited services. Wifi is available in the common areas and in each room.
