Introducing
Solo Retreat Travel Guides
DIGITAL DOWNLOAD TRAVEL GUIDE + JOURNAL PROMPTS TO TURN YOUR DIY-VACATION INTO A RETREAT + over 20 locations to choose from
Here is what our past guests have to say:
“Wandering Roots provided an experience I couldn't haven't gotten from just any company. Anna sought out unique adventures not populated by typical tourists and that made it much more enjoyable. Less crowded.” — MM
How it Works
Self-guided travel guides with 4 lodging & restaurant suggestions with hyperlinks to make reservations a breeze, 8-10 detailed excursion suggestions, and journal prompts for before, during, and after the retreat.
the process
1. SCOUTING THE LOCATION
AKA eliminate all of the boring, overcrowded excursions that will leave you feeling underwhelmed. If you want to experience an area like a local, you need a local or someone that has scouted the area (me) based on locals’ recommendations and tips and countless hours of research. Retreat excursions are put through a rigorous testing process that requires a high level of wow factor, a zero indicator for stress and a qualifying time of day to best optimize the experience which is code for avoiding crowds and having the perfect daylight for selfies. Only the best places the area has to offer will be recommended. Every restaurant, venue and excursion in the guide has been experienced by yours truly. I know exactly what you’re hoping to find as well as what you absolutely do not want to find, such as a trail that is not worth the out-of-way three hour drive.
2. CHOOSE YOUR LOCATION AND PURCHASE YOUR GUIDE
I’m kind of obsessed with National Parks so there are many park locations to choose from. I’ve also added a few state parks, national monuments and some parks in Canada, our beautiful neighbor to the north. Don’t see the location you’re looking for? Email anna@yourwanderingroots.com and I’ll see what I can do :) Once you’ve purchased your guide, you’ll get a digital download. You can also order a hard copy if you’d prefer!
3. PICK A DATE
I’ll answer the infamous “when’s the best time to visit?” question and I’ll always argue the off season is the best season and even the winter in some locations could be best because yes to beautiful white blankets of snow but mostly because of less tourists, duh. Ultimately it depends how you want to spend your time but there are options for every season so that you can choose your own adventure.
4. BOOK YOUR RESERVATIONS
4 serene accommodation options, 4 spectacular dining suggestions, and up to 10 very detailed excursions options are all included in the guide. I’ll cover the areas you must (with a capital M) visit and help you decide if you should commit to one place or travel around. Lodging and dining suggestions are hyperlinked to make reservations a breeze.
5. JOURNAL PROMPTS
My proprietary “how adults recess” method of travel is guaranteed to maximize your joy, minimize your stress, and remind you why you chose to take this epic journey in the first place. When you spend time thinking about it, it evolves into something deeper than you were expecting, you’d be surprised. Journal prompts are designed by three expertly coordinated check-in times and 10 very important questions to ask yourself.
6. TRAVEL TIPS
More travel tips because you can never have too many as well as a packing list complete with check boxes because every single human being loves crossing things off of a list.
7. RETREAT
Alas! The fun part! You show up ready to relax and unwind and experience an unforgettable experience that rocks your world. Bonus points for trying something new ;)

What past guests are saying...
“To put it simply, Anna & Wandering Roots is the best!! I have traveled on retreat with Anna and also used her services to take a dream vacation which she planned out perfectly! Retreating with Anna is amazing, no detail is overlooked and she takes the time to make sure there are so many options of what to do so you can “choose your own adventure” everyday. Anna also planned a 10 day road trip for me top to bottom with my simple request of “I want to see the Redwood trees.” She definitely delivered, and then some!! I cannot recommend enough!"" — CM
I help you escape the ordinary without the stress, overwhelm, and mistakes of trying to diy.
Hi friend.
I’m Anna – the retreat host and logistics ninja behind Wandering Roots.
This dream job of mine focuses on helping you escape on effortless adventures they need to make them feel alive without the stress of planning their own getaway. I have never met anyone that has regretted getting away or investing in themselves, but I have met plenty of people that regret not doing it sooner.
For years, I told myself we couldn’t afford to take trips and that mostly an excuse because I had no idea where or how to begin and wasn’t used to stepping outside of my comfort zone.
Day after day, I showed I went through the motions of my life which was mostly spent at my 9 to 5 job that was slowly sucking my soul out and wondered to myself:
“Why am I not thrilled?”
When my husband and my 3rd anniversary rolled around, I planned a 10 day trip to Colorado. We covered a good chunk of the state in a short period of time. On the flight home from that trip in 2010, I announced to my husband and all nearby passengers that I was going to take at least one trip a year to somewhere new.
At the end of 2017, I upgraded that commitment to traveling once per quarter.
And I’m also on a very important mission to see as many National Parks as possible.
And, now, I can’t wait to help you do the same.
