Reflections on the Summer SUP Day Retreat
Reflections on the Summer SUP Day Retreat
Normally I journal right after a retreat, like the day after or on the plane ride home, but that wasn’t the case for this past Day Retreat. I think it was partly due to the fact that summers are usually jam-packed in Michigan. If you’ve lived here long enough to have gained the wisdom from even just one single winter, you try to squeeze as much joy out of those warm summer nights as you can. I also had wrapped the Spa Retreat the week before and I did I mention I co-own a landscape company and each season gets busier than the year before?
I love Day Retreats. We always get some new guests and some old guests. Wish is wonderful because I love see past guests and I like to convince new guests that we’re not serial killers ;) I regularly refer to Day Retreats as the gateway drug because it’s the lowest investment of time and money, but that doesn’t mean they are any less special than the longer, overnight retreats.
We still get to gather and connect in person (so important these days), we still get to laugh at all of Elise’s jokes, and best of all (IMO) we get to indulge in chef Abbey’s incredible cooking. This is the first time we got to partner with Freedom Paddle Company and Brittany is one of the best humans I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting.
And I know I say it every single time, but we truly have the best guests. We had some make the long drive from Detroit, we had one face her fear of the water, and almost everyone was ready to meet a stranger post-COVID.
Join us for our next retreat!

I believe in trying everything once. My values lie in collecting memories over things. Though we desire adventure and authentic experiences, naturally our fear holds us back.
