Reflections on the Costa Rica '24 Retreat

Reflections on the Costa Rica '24 Retreat

This was our third retreat in one of my favorite places.

Damn we had a great group.

They were all so, so funny.

And kind. SO kind!

They were open and welcoming to us hosts and each other,.

Every single one of them is a badass. Impressive careers, great life stories of resilience and perseverance, and really incredible energy.

Watching women show up for one another while also stepping outside their comfort zone will always inspire the hell out of me.

They tried new things, ate all of the foods, pushed themselves, encouraged one another, and became fast friends.

This is the first retreat that I ever skipped an excursion. I waffled back and forth on it, but eventually told the guilt that was all-consuming to kindly f off. I knew that sitting out the horseback ride and waterfall hike was the best decision for me and when I finally told the guests I wouldn't be joining them, I was only met with grace and understanding.

What a beautiful reminder that it's really silly to put so much pressure on ourselves.

To hold ourselves to such high standards.
To instantly, without hesitation, offer grace and support to anyone other than ourselves.
To feel that we need to earn our rest. (Pretty much over this one, THANK GOD!)

So, to the Costa Rica class of 2024 (mostly likely the final chapter!), THANK YOU!

Thank you for reminding me that the pressure is always just in my head.
Thank you for your grace and support, I can still feel it.
Thank you for encouraging me and each other to rest.
Thank you for showing me how beautiful women supporting women is.
Thank you for making this retreat so special just by being your uniquely incredible selves.
Thank you for choosing your own adventure.

And, a huge thank you for choosing to spend your valuable time with me, Abs, and E. We already miss you dearly and hope to share snacks (those poor Cheetos!) and stories with you soon!

Join us - unless you hate laughing and making new friends ;)
