Why asking for help is the gateway to living your best life!

Why asking for help is the gateway to living your best life!

I used to hate asking for help and I still have a difficult time doing so. I assume everyone is busy and I would prefer not to weigh anyone down with issues that probably don’t pertain to them. Anyone else feel this way? I don’t know a single person who enjoys being a burden...it’s human nature to want to feel self-sufficient and capable.

I never asked for help. In fact, I prided myself on that fact. Look at me! I have it all together! All by myself, I don’t need anyone!

...until I started Red Cedar Landscapes with my husband and needed all of the help in very short period of time.

Here’s what I learned when I asked for help. Most people aren’t an expert at everything. Each of us would rather not have to do tasks that they are either clueless on or bored to tears with. Finding someone to help you with one of those types of tasks will not only save you so much time but you’re also much more likely to execute that task correctly the first time.

In my experience, most people are very willing and happy to give you a hand. If they struggled with something similar in the past, it will be even more likely that they are equipped with empathy for you. Another perk to this is gaining the best referrals for professionals to hire for those tasks that will always require an expert.

I often have the opportunity to return the favor and when I am able to be a part of the solution, I find myself walking on cloud nine. You receive more when you give. Lending a hand is also an amazing way to network; before I knew it, I had this incredible community that have become some of our closest friends. What a gift!

Over the next several months, I’m going to start highlighting a few of my best friends that are not only amazing human beings that I rely on but have also made careers out of helping empower those around them. Watch for the “Strong Women are Stronger Together” series starting next month!

If I can help you in any way, please reach out.
